Digital Room Careers > Director: Stickers & Labels

Director: Stickers & Labels

Position Summary:

eCommerce, category ownership and real business impact across nine brands
If you’re driven by wearing a range of hats that typically come from working in smaller, tight-knit groups and are empowered by the notion of relative autonomy to own a high-potential category and push it forward, this opportunity might be right for you. Let’s see if it is…

We are Digital Room: the Los Angeles-based parent company of UPrinting, NextDayFlyers, PrintRunner, eSigns and eSigns.com, Packola, LogoSportswear and many others. Technically, we’re B2B but we act B2C. We’re really eCommerce but look like manufacturing (or maybe it’s the other way around). Either way, we’re definitely in an interesting industry…more about us, though, later. We are actively looking for a Category Director to own the performance of our Stickers & Labels product offerings—an experienced category strategist with marketing and merchandising chops that rivals your fundamental understanding of research and planning. This high-growth, high-potential category perfectly rests among our other significant category offerings: Marketing Essentials, Stickers & Labels, Packaging, Promotional Products and Signs & Banners.

Our vision for this role begins with your 5-7+ years’ experience and expertise with Stickers, Labels or another similar/adjacent product offering, is guided by your drive for research, analytics, collaboration, communication, budgeting, planning and problem-solving and forges ahead with a tenacity for category growth, expansion and development. You know how to harvest data, identify facts, craft strategies then communicate the essentials in simple terms to a multitude of people, roles and disciplines: Marketing colleagues, Product owners, Design and User Experience, Content, Customer Experience, Operations, Finance, Manufacturing and the nice folks in the Leadership team. You know product/category evolution because you’ve done it before. You know eCommerce because it’s been how you’ve been executing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Own the Stickers & Labels category performance and develop strategies to optimize growth and profitability.
  • Understand the competitive space—products, pricing, marketing/go-to-market strategies and how we line up.
  • Understand the category deeply—develop expertise on category & product improvement and expansion opportunities.
  • Understand the manufacturing processes—what can we do in-house along with what seems to have traction in the marketplace that we can’t do today but should consider developing the capabilities.
  • Understanding the user/customer and the mindsets they may be in—what are the use cases, how do we deliver and capture outsized value as well as assess the quality and effectiveness of customer relationships through NPS and other similar metrics.
  • Understand how to market these products—acquisition, retention, SEO, SEM through to social media.
  • Own and optimize the category merchandising strategy and CRO while also working in varying degrees with the User Experience, Visual Design, SEO and Product teams on site category optimizations and evolutions.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (executive committee, product development, marketing, operations, finance) on executing approved action plans
  • We steadily grow through a strong brand-acquisition plan so the Stickers & Labels category will certainly keep you on your toes.

Required Experience / Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in eCommerce, category management, marketing, merchandising, operations or equivalent—experience with B2B and web-to-product is preferred along with Stickers & Labels (or adjacent) product category experience
  • Experience with business/financial planning and budgeting
  • Diligent organizational and project management skills with an ability to manage resources and processes across multiple locations and time zones
  • Experience problem-solving within multi-faceted and complex systems
  • Solid communication skills throughout different departments and management levels
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to make decisions that respond accordingly and drive results
  • Ability to analyze and present data in clear and concise ways
  • Proficiency in, you guessed it, Excel and PowerPoint! We would also expect you have experience with internal tools such as Tableau.
  • The role does have a lot of autonomy so being entrepreneurial-minded is important
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Business or Marketing preferred)
