Purchasing Associate

Position Summary:
Purchasing Associate will work within the purchasing department to achieve on-time order processing, and follow-up, management of the purchasing, backorder, past QC and receiving issues queue.  Incumbent will be the main contact for resolving all major issues that require vendor resolution and will help improve order processing and open orders to ensure prompt delivery and vendor and sales rep follow-up.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assists with drop shipment orders as they come in and daily ordering from each vendor by cut-off times - submitted via email, EDI, or online ordering
  • Oversees daily entry of order and follow up on confirmation numbers for all orders
  • Researches and maintains substitute database finding alternative vendors and product substitutions as well as providing follow up and suggestions for service representatives
  • Assists with merchandising by notifying website team of product changes, sku modifications, etc. that come about as a result of daily ordering
  • Maintains purchasing “notes” in the Call-In screen to be sure that they are current and correct for each vendor
  • Responds to all issues from the vendor and staff inquiries
  • Use the most efficient purchasing/delivery methods to meet our requirements for the customer
Required Experience / Qualifications:
  • Requires strong problem-solving skills, good knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as the ability to work independently and on a tight schedule
  • The incumbent must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with our suppliers and inside staff
  • This position requires high attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven, team oriented and exciting environment
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English
  • HS Diploma

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer
  • This position requires repetitive use of hands/fingers to operate keyboard and mouse in front of a computer monitor
  • The person in this position must frequently communicate via phone, IM, email and in person with other staff members providing information accurately and professionally in these situations
  • The employee is expected to come to work unimpaired
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED
